2009 was a challenging year in the history of French trials machine maker Scorpa. However, the company was given a new lease on life when past owner Marc Tessier of Sherco, re-invested in the company to help it meet current obligations and give it a source for its two-stroke engines in the form of Sherco's 123cc and 272cc motors. The four-stroke models retain their Yamaha motors. Note that the popular LongRide series return, and while not pictured, the T-Ride is being produced.
The Scorpa chassis proved its versatility as in short order the Sherco motors were fitted to them, and the results are as you see above. The machines retain their fastastic build quality, with 40mm Marzocchi forks and Sachs rear shocks on the racing models. The Sherco two-stroke motors address one of the long-standing concerns on the SY series, that being the vulnerability of the engine cases to rock damage, due to the width of the motor.
