In the 20th Annual running of the Marseille Indoor World Trial, Albert Cabestany did what as of
late has been almost impossible to do--displace Montesa-HRC's Toni Bou from the top rung on the
podium. This year's event was less about overall obstacle size and more about avoiding
error.
Loris Gubian failed to make it into the event because of bike difficulties, leaving
Adam Raga, Toni Bou, Jeroni Fajardo, Albert Cabestany, and Takahisa Fujinami, and
UK favorite Michael Brown, to contest the final. The event came down to the
final section which centered on series of upside-down boats. Cabestany led by a point going into the
section over Bou, and dabbed once more while working his way through the toughest part
of the section. Bou, however, apparently had a case of the nerves and dabbed early in the
section, as well when negotiating the toughest obstacles in the section, putting him two points in back of Cabestany.
Cabestany took the win, with Bou putting two more points on third placed Raga in the
championship standings.
